David Stewart, a lead forestry specialist at ACRT, recently received a Going the Extra Mile (G.E.M.) Award for his contributions resulting in exceptional customer service. He was nominated by ACRT Assistant Operations Manager Josh Justice.
Justice recently received an email from one of our customer’s vegetation management program managers, praising the actions of Stewart. While the manager was taking PTO, Stewart identified an uprooting, leaning locust on a radial feed circuit that powers Maggie Valley, N.C. Had this tree gone unnoticed, it likely would have caused a high customer minutes of interruption (CMI) outage.
Stewart was able to get a tree crew onsite immediately to eliminate the threat and reported the situation to the customer’s lead vegetation manager.
Justice shared the following about Stewart’s actions.
David’s response was described as textbook and flawless! This is the second such tree found by Mr. Stewart on our system that was handled promptly, and in both situations, he likely prevented outages. From a management standpoint, I see David as someone who can consistently be relied upon to take ownership of his projects and region, resolving problems when they occur. He is a whiz at dendrology. If it has something to do with trees then he’s likely knowledgeable on the subject, because it isn’t just a job to David, it is what he is passionate about! Stay tuned for more great things to come from him!
