Learn more about Flores and her role at ACRT.
I have always been interested in wildlife and nature, but in my last year of undergrad, after completing an out-of-state research program conducting field surveys on landscape heterogeneity and butterfly abundance, I became fascinated with the land management side of conservation.
I was looking for a new experience in the field to learn different methods of management and happened to come across utility vegetation management.
I work under a forester at a large Texas-based investor-owned utility (IOU) from whom I receive work assignments across my service area visiting neighborhoods and empty fields to inspect tree clearance and vines along power lines.
What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to develop skills in decision-making in various cases and improve my ability to communicate with customers and colleagues.
To anyone interested in this industry, keep your eyes open and take every new opportunity that comes your way — even if it may be out of your comfort zone.
I have greatly appreciated the friendly work environment and helpful and welcoming colleagues throughout my time with the company.
